Ornate Cross Necklace with Blue Sapphire Drop, September Birthstone

This is a classic, every day piece. It would also make a beautifully affordable gift and can be personalised with other gemstones (birthstones are very popular).

The medium size cross is embellished with vines and leaves and polished to a golden shine with darker oxidised metal in the recesses.

The genuine sapphire is dark blue and opaque. It has been faceted and then wire wrapped as a separate pendant to be worn together with the cross or on its own.

Both pendants are threaded on a dressy ball chain. This one has bar links in between groups of 3 ball links. Closure is a lobster claw clasp.

The chain measures about 1.5mm in width, 45cm, 18" in length.

All metal is solid brass which has been oxidized and then polished. To keep the finish, the metal has been sealed with a non-toxic jewellery lacquer.

 The cross pendant has a hollow shell back.
